Positive sleep changes for our family
My 3-year-old son had been a great sleeper, but recently went through a regression, experiencing nighttime fears and frequent awakenings. We reached out to Candy because we were exhausted and frustrated. She listened to what was happening and tailored a plan that felt right for our family. Her knowledge about evidence-based approaches to sleep training, combined with her practical experience working with families, gave us a sense of comfort and, most importantly, led to positive sleep changes for our family!
Guidance in building a solid sleep foundation
With Candy’s help, our baby Mary started sleeping through the night after months of tireless nights. Almost a year later, she is still sleeping 11- 12 hours straight. We cannot say enough about our time working with Candy- she is professional, caring, and gives very specific advice. We are so grateful for Candy’s guidance in building a solid sleep foundation for Mary!
My husband and I got our sanity and energy back
When you have a baby, one of the first things you’re told is that you can say goodbye to sleeping. After 7 months, our son Jude was only sleeping 1-3 hour stretches in a crib in our bedroom and was nursing at each wake-up until he fell back to sleep. It was also taking over an hour to initially put him down for bedtime. This was putting a lot of pressure on us – we were burnt out, but we felt selfish for complaining. So we did our research online and quickly became overwhelmed with the conflicting advice, opinions and convictions. We tried a few approaches, but when nothing produced positive results (if anything, these approaches made things more difficult) we were convinced that our baby was different and we were simply doomed to never sleep again.
We met Candy at her baby yoga class, and we remember the first thing Candy said to us was that we deserve sleep. It was hard to believe and easier said than done, but the last straw was drawn after one almost completely sleepless night and a complete mommy meltdown. We reached out to Candy and started working with her one-on-one shortly thereafter.
Candy was so thorough, walking us through our options and getting to know everything about us and our son Jude so that she could adapt to our style (which for us personally was providing very structured and specific details). Candy mapped out a plan that was specific to our family and catered to what we felt we were ready to do and not yet ready to do. For example, we wanted to move him into his own room, but we were not ready to completely night wean. During the first week, we e-mailed Candy in real-time (e.g., there were several 3am correspondences) as things were developing, and she would respond the next day with insight, recommendations and modifications to our plan. In our case, our stubborn little boy (or so we thought) took to the process quickly, so we accelerated the process a bit.
By the end of the first week, we were all sleeping through the night and had completely night weaned (which was Jude’s decision). By the end of week 3, both my husband and I could put Jude to sleep easily, and he knew how to put himself back to sleep if he woke up in the middle of the night. You could even see a sense of pride in himself. In addition, since getting him to sleep was not dependent on nursing, a big weight was lifted off my shoulders and it gave my husband more confidence in his own bedtime routine.
Jude now has the confidence to sleep anywhere through the night and any family member can put him to sleep. We’re not exaggerating when we say that Candy changed our lives – the entire house (pets included) is happier. My husband and I got our sanity and energy back to be the best and most fun parents and partners we can be (Jude’s words, not ours).
We still reach out to Candy from time-to-time for reassurance that we are handling certain situations correctly, and she’s always quick to respond with sage advice. As we approach 1.5-2 years, he tests us a lot, but thanks to Candy we have the tools to handle it!
Candy empowered us and truly listened to our concerns.
Prior to our work with Candy, our 7-month old Niko was having a hard time with sleep. He only slept when rocked, nursed, or if he was put in our bed: all three options were not ideal: the moment we’d put him in his crib, he would cry. My wife and I were exhausted, frustrated, confused, and sleep deprived. Candy literally turned all this around 180 degrees: Niko now sleeps through the night and has become a much better napper. This process came about through Candy’s deep knowledge of sleep training and child development, her openness to answer many of our questions, her positive encouragement, and her supportive dialogue over the phone and email. Not only is Niko a better sleeper, but we as parents feel empowered with the knowledge and skills needed to continue to support him in the future. Thank you, Candy, for being such an important part of our journey through the world of sleep!

I can’t believe how easy this was
I can’t believe how easy this was and how quicky it worked!
Candy helped us create a plan that felt comfortable
I was really hesitant to try sleep training. I didn’t want my baby to have a scary experience. Candy helped us create a plan that felt comfortable and allowed my son take on an appropriate amount of sleep responsibility that he was ready to accomplish. Watching him learn this new skill was a really wondeful experience. We can’t thank Candy enough for guiding us through the process.
We wanted to keep our preschooler in our bedroom, and Candy helped us do just that!
I just want to say thank you for being by my side and going through this process with me. I feel confident instead of confused or shamed for my goals of having my preschooler in our room. Thank you for helping me to prove other sleep consultants wrong who said my daughter would not be able to learn independent sleep if we kept her in our room.
